During the Salem witch trials, the red scare, and now gay marriage, strife has been caused by things that many would argue morally hurt society, but in reality affects only a select few. Freedom and order have not reached a balance in America, and never will. I say this because there's always two sides to each legal case, and supporters of both.
A great example of this would be the Ferguson shooting, where police officer Darren Wilson shot and killed a black teenager, Michael Brown. After the grand jury chose not to indict the officer for any charges, the city was looted, burned, and the epicenter of general mayhem for nearly a week. While I will not argue whether this verdict is right or not, I can say that many Americans that day were not happy with how their laws governed them. Although these people indirectly create the laws, through elected officials, it still does not satisfy them.
I agree with your argument that order and freedom will never reach a balance. I think you did a good job of proving your point and including past and present events.
