Education in a Postmodern Age

Today's postmodern society allows for many new exciting educational possibilities. From smart boards to class blogs, education is moving with the digital age at a rapid pace. These possibilities offer new opportunities for students and teachers. Things are easier to organize, and allow us to save paper.

But is this movement all good? I don't think so. Studies show that students typing notes on a laptop retains less information than one who writes their notes out. As we move further into the future, these deficiencies can only get worse. Today's voice recognition technology could allow students to record entire lectures and have them typed out.

Overall, technological advancement is good, but we must be careful not to let technology replace our brains. When we do, humanity will have reached a plateau in development. We will no longer have a need to create and innovate.

  1. Hey I like this post I agree with you. Technology is good but can a lot of times replace the way of thinking and processing that's better for us. Sometimes, doing things in a click of a button isn't so helpful. Humanity is being hidden with all these growing advances.

  2. It is quite intriguing how technology is becoming more and more prevalent in school. Although, another issue related to this topic, is how we use technology in different environments. We use social media, games, and other technologies not pertaining to schoolwork all the time, but in a different way than we would complete an assignment or take notes using technology.
