Music in our Projects

This week we witnessed a great variety of video music projects created by our classmates. These projects were pertaining to a specific chapter in A Visit From the Goon Squad.

Each project had a visual accompanied by a visual, but for this particular blog post I am going to address the music aspect of the projects, because each project had a different visual depending on their chapter and specific assignment.

While the Spotify playlist "Bennie's Old School Favorites" gives us a good idea of what postmodern songs sound like, and a taste of 80s punk music, there were still a variety of musical genres used in the video projects.

Some songs that groups picked leaned more towards the grunge rock theme of the book, however some songs that people picked were more on the alternative side. We even saw some projects with musical genres outside of rock, including rap and hip-hop songs. But while the music can give a sense or connection towards the style of the book, what really matters is the lyrics of the song and how they fit in with each chapter.

  1. Yes I agree, it more of the lyrics that impacts the viewer and not as much the genre.

  2. I thought it was interesting what groups picked as their song choice.
