Family Strong

For many years now Hillary Clinton has done so much for families across america, well as far as her Family Strong campaign advertisement tells us. This ad is trying to tell a story of how overtime Hillary has become more and more involved with trying to help families throughout the country. The campaign video starts out by revealing a personal story from Hilary's childhood, saying that her parents abandoned her when she was young. They insert pictures from her childhood as they state how she was mistreated. She is using pathos by sharing an emotional experience from her past to get people to vote for her.

The ad proceeds on by using ethos stating that when she was first lady she got health care for eight million children. They continue to mention many things she has done throughout her life to help children and families in need.

Throughout the entirety of the ad she’s using logos to make herself look as great as possible by inserting different photos and facts about how much she’s making such a difference. Towards the end of the ad they through in a picture of her with her grandchild and say “now a new title, grandma.” Hillary puts this video out there to show the people of america the best possible side of herself, only the good things. Hillary’s campaign ad, Family Strong is trying to convince all the families out there that if you vote for Hillary she will make your child’s life better.

  3. I agree, she does use emotion and personal stories to get our vote. Good point about mentioning the fact that she shows the best side of herself to get our vote as well.

  5. I agree with your analysis of this ad. I feel like the logos through the sad facts of her childhood is a pretty obvious way of playing to people's emotions to get the vote. Showing her struggle not only appeals to families because she was a little girl without one, but it appeals to anyone that has risen out of any kind of struggle. Telling a story like that instead of one from her later life as an upper class white mother was a good way for her to get more sympathy and connect to a larger audience.

  6. I think you did a great job at explaining the rhetorics used in this video. Hillary has always included a most personal side to her campaign and I think this really helps her.

  7. Nice analysis of the rhetoric devices in this ad. I think it gets the point across to why she is running and that she is in it for the people of our country.

  8. I think that this ad goes out of the way to show how Hillary wants to serve the American people. People with a family to look after and care for will feel better towards Hillary when this ad shows them that she wants to help look out for them. I agree that this ad tells voters to vote for Hillary in the interest of their children. What we decide today impacts the next generation. This ad taps into that feeling voters have. Spot-on analysis of pathos appeal.
