Trump's Views on Veterans

This ad, Trump's Claims on War made by Hillary Clinton and her supporters, uses rhetoric strategies to show why the candidate that she is running against, in 2016, is not fit to be the president. The sound of Trump's words are overpowered by the facial expressions and concern multiple war veterans. The main rhetoric strategy is the use of pathos. The emotions expressed in this ad, are appealing to the emotional side of people.

Not going to lie, when I watched this for the first time I got a little emotional. What the ad is doing is drawing in an audience that will see this and know that Trump is a bad vote for president due to his lack of heart and uncensored speaking. Along with the emotions of the veterans comes the slow piano music in the background.

Between the overpowering voice of Trump and the visuals of the veterans, the music is kind of hard to notice the first time watching the add. The music adds even more emotion to the advertisement, which all appeals to the sentiment of the viewers.

By approving this message, Hillary Clinton is trying to put Donald Trumps beliefs and reputation on the spot. Picking and choosing specific lines from speeches such as, "Donald Trump compared his sacrifices to the sacrifices of two parents who lost their son in war", Hillary is showing how Trump is not sentimental with the people of America. This method of trying to ruin his reputation is a form of ethos. Hilary is simply using Trump's own words against him to show that he is not fit to be the president of our country.

At the end of this ad, it is displaying how Hillary Clinton is a more suitable decision for president, because she is running for the people of America, not for herself. She uses Trump against Trump to further push her campaign in the direction that she wants to be going in, which is towards the White House.

  1. I agree with all of what you said, and I think its interesting how Hillary uses Trump against himself. The message in this ad is quite powerful, how Trump is full of himself and just saying things without meaning.
