a visit from the goon squad

At times, I really didn't like "a visit from the goon squad", but now, I do.  I didn't like the book for quite a while because it felt kind of scattered - the chapters jumped around a lot, not very much connection between them. Drawing towards the end of the book, you find that things really wrap up well. There are connections between the beginning of the book and the end of the book, and everything kind of clicks.
This book went to so many places. There were several main characters and there were chapters where some main characters weren't involved at all. I like how the first chapters and the last chapters tie together, because there's lots of ambiguity when you're in the middle chapters that is made clear towards the end of the book.
"Out of Body" is one of my favorite chapters from the book because it provokes a lot of emotion. It's not weird like "Forty Minute Lunch" where you're kind of just left surprised. "Out of Body" displays the complexity of relationships and love and hurt. It displays the complexity of mental health and it has a certain ambiguity in the narration where you don't really know who's supposed to be narrating. I just think it's perfectly written.

  1. I agree with you. Our perspective changes throughout the book. It was confusing and shifting at the beginning but towards the end it all tied together and made sense.
