Going Old School

The US media has made it clear about the recent resignation of the Director of the Secret Service, Julia Pierson. Pierson has been the Director of Security at the White House for three years. During that time there have been multiple breaches in the White House's security. The most resent breach occurred on September 9 when a homeless ex-marine named Omar Gonzales was able to hop the fence bordering the White House. Next, Gonzales was able then to run across the field and enter the White House. He was able to move deeper into the White house until he was detained by members of the Secret Service.

After the Secret Service detained Gonzales, they found a three-and-a-half inch long knife on him. The question raised by this incident is whether the level of security provided by our Secret Service is good enough. We should advance our security at the White House to build it back to being one of the most secure places in the world.

These recent breaches at the White House should be a wake up call for America to demand changes to the Secret Service.  We must demand the secret service go back to its traditional approach to ensure the safety of our president and our country.
