All of us live in a postmodern world, and many of us disagree on the definition postmodernism. In my opinion, postmodernism is the departure from the modern, or when one carries a skepticism of the modern. We are constantly influenced by artifacts that are postmodern, which many would agree with, but I would like to offer an alternate perspective on the world's preconceived notions of the concept. All of us who live in this world are also postmodern.
One might question why I have made this statement, but it becomes quite clear after further explanation. Since it is obvious that the world we live in is postmodern, we have all become influenced by the postmodern reality. I believe it is necessary to look at it the opposite way as well. We ourselves influence others in the progression of our postmodern society.
In the end, everything we see in our world is postmodern, the technology, the art, the literature, because we make it postmodern due to us carrying a skepticism of all modern elements that have been included. In other words, everything and nothing is postmodern.
I think your definition of postmodernism is thought provoking. I wonder if everyone would actually agree that we live in a postmodern world. I think it is possible that postmodernism is confined to the artistic and literary movement.
