Congressman Dan Benishek Responds to Global Warming

When asked by ABC 10′s news director Greg Peterson on his reaction to global warming, Benishek simply responded “I don’t see any peer-reviewed science that proves there is man-made catastrophic climate change.” This is interesting, because recently a roundup of peer reviewed literature in this field found 97 percent agreement that humanity’s carbon emissions are a major driver of climate change. Clearly Congressman Benishek who is an educated man, graduating from University of Michigan with a bachelor of science degree and then graduating Wayne State Medical School, is simply choosing to ignore the facts presented to him. Saying Global warming is a lie is the equivalent of stating that tectonic plates don’t contribute to earthquakes. Man Made Carbon emission induced climate change is an irrefutable fact and is not a point that is up for debate. There is simply too much proof on its side.

An obvious motive for Benishek is money. The oil and gas industry has been his third largest supporter since his first run for a position as a congressman. He has since 2010 hauled a total of $125,000 from his supporters in the oil and gas industry making his motives for such bizarre statements suddenly all the more clear. IPCC'S reports show that it is inevitable at this point that the worlds temperature will rise 2 degrees celsius killing even more species of animals all over the world. According to the most recent measurements of the earths atmosphere, There is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today than at any point in the last 800,000 years. Not only this, but 95% of this temperature change can be blamed on unnatural human practices like factory carbon emissions etc.

I personally couldn’t care less what some clearly biased politician says. I only hope that American’s see the facts as they are and don't let Dan Benishek’s lies persuade you to watch idly as the climate crumbles.
