I wrote my op-ed on how gay and lesbian couples have the right to get married just as much as a straight couple. And also how it is wrong to discriminate someone for their sexual orientation. There are only 19 states that have legalized gay marriage, and considering where America started from, this is pretty good. But because of the discrimination of gays, the other 31 states aren't fully convinced gay marriage should be legalized. There are currently 12 states that are waiting to appeal the right for gay marriage, since July of 2014, and 15 states that have banned gay marriage, and most of these sates are southern. These states argue that Gay marriage is a sin and god said "Man shall not lay with man, and woman shall not lay with woman." Well if this true, and god created us all, why did he make homo-sexuals, because most people argue that people are born gay, and it isn't a choice. The truth behind these arguments, is that homo-sexuality makes some people uncomfortable for some odd reason. I mean if gay marriage was legal, how would it affect any other person? It shouldn't be any one's business who is with who, and what they do with each other. Discrimination against Gay's is very big problem in America, it may not as big as some of the other things affecting out country right now, but it needs to be looked at and resolved.

Good job using your own voice. You addressed the issue directly and used a logical argument that was easy to follow. You are definitely right that the gay marriage issue should be resolved.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with your post. I mean what if the roles were reversed? What if people were hating on straight marriage/relationships? I feel your point was very clearly explained with good evidence to support it. You addressed your topic very thoroughly and it was easy to understand. Great job!
