Women in Major League Sports?

Major League sports have always been discriminatory. Every popular sport; Football, Baseball, Hockey, and Basketball, fail to include women players. This lack of professional female athletes has reinforced stereotypes that women are not capable of competing with men in sports. While the fact that males and females have different body types, even females who are physically capable of competing at the level of their male counterparts are socially "edged out" of sports.

The MLB has never seen a woman on a roster, only one woman has ever played in an NHL game, and  the NFL has yet to see a female player. While many female athletes are plenty skillful, for some odd reason they never really make it past high school playing co-ed. This is because it is not socially acceptable yet for a woman to participate in mainstream sports at the professional level. Women are capable of not just playing, but competing. Unfortunately, until it becomes socially acceptable, we likely won't see many female athletes playing against men on TV.

  1. This was a great analysis! You make a very good point that women are kept out of sports and it is unfair. Gender norms keep women away from competing in Major League Sports. This is ridiculous.
