The Truth of War

War is hell,
But that's not the half of it.
War is powerful, implacable beauty.
You hate it, but your eyes do not.
War is your truest self.
It's the human being you become.
War is about moral.
You got to listen to your enemy.
War is just another name for death.
But you're never more alive than when you're almost dead.
War is grotesque,
A necklace of human tongues.
War is no clarity.
You lose the sense of right and wrong.
War is the Garden of Evil.
Every sin's real, fresh and original.
War is without a point.
You think, "Christ, what's the point?"
War is mystery.
You want to penetrate deeper into it.
War is right there, in that stare.
It says everything you can't ever say.
War is a love story,
But you can't say that.
War is never about war.
