Irony, O'Malley, Education and Debt

When talking about student debts, O'Malley stresses the ridiculous interest rates imposed upon student loans. He finds it absurd that the government is charging 7-8% interest on student loans. O'Malley referenced his daughters graduation from college. He said, "We were proud of them on graduation day but we are going to be proud every month for the rest of our natural born lives." His clever sentence was fallowed by laughter and clapping from the audience. His statement was a very good example of situational irony. While we expected a possibly heartfelt ending he connected his family life to a problem many Americans, and voters, suffer today.
