Inventing for Oskar

The invention that I would create for Oskar is a small device that would take his thoughts and translate them into exactly what to say without misrepresenting himself. It would be a small and black device, about the size of a pager, which had electrodes that Oskar could connect to himself and the machine would read his thoughts. It could analyze his relationship with whomever he is speaking, and tailor his responses to to situation. That way, Oskar won't end up  saying the wrong thing and unknowingly offending someone. As a bonus, the machine would be able to tell Oskar what to say based off of his mood when he didn't know what to say, and the more he used it, the better he would get at expressing himself without the device.

I feel that this invention will be very useful in helping Oskar grow up and be a functioning adult. I find that one of Oskar's main problems is his inability to connect with, and express himself to others. With this device he would be able to do that. He could tell his mother how he really feels about his dad's death, talk to his therapist Dr. Fein with more ease, and simply navigate throughout the world more easily than he has. For instance, when Oskar begins his search he comes across Abby Black who he thinks is very beautiful. To express that he thinks that she is beautiful he asks for a kiss and Abby is clearly taken aback by the strange request. With this device Oskar could have taken whatever thought led him to ask if he could kiss Abby and gotten a suggestion that was more appropriate in the situation. I believe that this invention would go a long way in helping Oskar better connect to other people, and with himself.
