Living in a Post-Modern World
As a high school student I witness first hand many social trends and patterns influenced by media and the arts among fellow students young and old. To live in a post- modern world means that one would go through lots of experimenting with trends that range from clothing, music, language, and art. People grow fond of new kinds of music, sometimes that music is hot among the majority, or its within small groups. When small groups or individuals discover something that is new or not as popular they are contributing to a post-modern society by bringing it closer to the majority or by introducing it to more and more people. Things like music and poetry contribute to the broader category of language. Peoples language changes with the flow of trending music. Whether its popular or just starting to emerge language collectively feeds off itself creating new material and contributing to postmodernism. Peoples actions and activities that they participate in also change with trends and contribute to a changing postmodern society. Peoples dress style and art go through the same and/or similar cycle as language. All of this comes together to form our media and arts which is a huge part of peoples daily lives. To live in a postmodern world such as ours brings lots of change and experimenting that can all feed of itself to introduce more new things.

Hey I really like your thoughts on postmodernism and what it's like. I agree with you and have similar opinions. Change in society and different trends have impact on how you feel and think about yourself and the environment around you.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the mass psychology of the postmodern era creates a demand for conformity. I think that these trends lessen individuality and, in fact, liberty.
ReplyDeleteI think postmodernism also promotes relative truth however, making everybody's interpretation of some art more important at a core level. I'd argue this makes everybody's individuality more important, not less important in terms of finding meaning in the world.
ReplyDeleteI agree, as society changes their view points so do we, were are impacted by everyone else's viewpoints.
