Today, Scotland faced one of its most important decisions in its long history, and unlike most of its decisions in history, this one is in the hands of the people. The vote for Scottish independence is pivotal. The Scots are in possession of a third of the island of Great Britain. It is also holds most of Britain's oil, as it is drilled off of the coast. The results of the vote are still uncertain, but it seems that a "yes" vote is quite possible. A secession of this scale is unprecedented in modern history.

There are consequences for Scotland if it commits to its treacherous ambitions for independence. The UK will disallow the use of the pound in Scotland, a much more valuable alternative to the Euro or whatever other currency they might use. The economics are complicated, as the UK uses Scottish workforce and resources to fuel its own prosperous currency.

With a "yes" vote, Scotland will be rolling the dice. The unique thing about this vote, is that independence has an appeal to the youthful liberals as well as the conservatives. Scottish independence is something both new and old at the same time, but it is yet to exist in any voter's lifetime. Those with true nationalist pride will likely pull through with the yes.

  1. Sounds like a hard decision. The Scots definitely have a pitch for a need for independence, but that doesn't mean its the right decision. What do you think is the better option for the people of Scotalnd?
