New iPhone's and Bendgate

As a past iPhone user I am very disappointed with the direction Apple has been going after Apple co-founder and creative director Steve Jobs passed away in 2011. From being the most innovative and popular phone company it seems as though Apple is now only surviving through their loyal fan base.
As most people already know the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have already made it out on the market and caught the eye of many as the new smartphone showed to have many crucial flaws.

The most notable flaw the iPhone has is that the phone begins to bend or "warp" after being in a tight and warm spot, like your jeans, taking a form similar to the LG G Flex. Just a week after the launch many people reported of their phones bending which sparked the coined term "Bendgate." Personally I do not think this is acceptable for a notable company like Apple and especially for phones which cost over $650, for the 16 GB iPhone 6, and over $750, for a 16 GB iPhone 6 Plus.

Another flaw found much recently is that the screen of the new iPhone can crack due to the heat of the phone caused by charging it and other heat inducing activities. Although this has been a problem for most iPhone's it seems as though it will be easier to crack with a new glass provided by an unknown provider, unlike the usual Gorilla Glass, which supposedly is trusted by Apple. After reversing their decision to use a brand new sapphire crystal glass they began creating it seems to be one of their worst decisions this year.

Apple has been making very bad choices and I think if they changed their ethics the iPhone can be revolutionary like before. One thing Apple needs to change is the release dates of their phones. Like most smartphones the company spends an estimated year to manufacturer their new phone unlike Apple which spent less than a year to create the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Another thing Apple should fix is trying to slim their smartphone every chance they get because by slimming their phones they put less care in the material that goes into making the actual phone.

Apple has a lot of work to do if they want to continue being the company they were in the past they need to change many things but mostly the two ideas given. Other than these major flaws the iPhone is a pretty good phone with a very easy to use operating system which is also a very sleek and beautiful system that has many benefits but if the screen cracks or the phone bends I don't think the operating system or any of the other features will be that appealing anymore. The new iPhone's have been proven to be a bust and I will be sticking to Android phones like the Galaxy Note 4 and the HTC One M8 or maybe get the new One Plus One smartphone until iPhone's prove itself to be a better structured smartphone.

  1. The level of consumerism in the country is out of control. Everyone's buying these new phones just because they're "new and improved". It's almost humorous how everyone bought this "special" phone and it turned out to be so defective.

  2. I agree with your point here. I like iPhones, but there is always way too much hype over the new model each year. People literally wait outside the store for days in order to get their hands on one. I have and iPhone myself, but personally I think this new model's design flaw should have been realized sooner so that Apple's reputation of quality products wouldn't be tarnished.

  3. I also think that the popularity of the iPhone is mostly based on Apple's fan base. Most people don't realized Apple's lack of innovation considering that their phones have the same specs as most high end phones did 2 years ago.

  4. I feel like they are coasting off of their loyal fan base as well, and that the new models are always over hyped and cost way more than they should. For 750$ i should be able to buy a phone that won't bend in my pocket.

  5. I must agree, I am quite disappointed in the fall of Apple as of recent years, but I must say there was a time where Apple was much more innovative in their technology. This is what initially drew many users toward Apple and that grew their fan base significantly. Unfortunately, I believe that this is one of the causes of their fall. They have such a strong fan base that they stopped putting quality into their products because they can rely on their consumers to buy their products regardless of their functionality. I would like to end by saying, Apple closed their mines when they went from using open-source technology to closed-source technology.
