This clip uses ethos to bring up Hillary's character and degrade Trump's at the same time. Pathos is also used in some parts to get a reaction from watcher to make them upset for the child who watches Trump speak and hear him insult everyday people and tear them down. In the first half of "Role Models" it displays Donald Trump saying his most well known insults on the television. The audience who is watching these videos are young children just taking in every single thing that he is saying. They're all wide-eyed some hold very shocked almost teary expressions. All of the children watching Trump are in the dark, a good portion appear to be straight out of the shower. In the second half of the video it is Hillary Clinton speaking, she is saying how we must keep our children in mind and be good role models. Clinton is wearing all white to enhance the lighting that the audience is also viewed in. All the children who are watching Hillary speak are now smiling and fully groomed.
I find it very intriguing that the ad uses children in different ways to enhance the nuances. I didn't notice that at first, the children watching the trump commercials were un-groomed and unkempt. The Hillary children are all well kept and neat. The commercial is trying to insinuate that children who support Hillary are pure and clean in a way.

ReplyDeleteI find it a very interesting concept to use children to tug at the heart strings of America. The way that the add makes it look as if the kids that are looking at the Trump ads look as if their parents are crazy. But when Hilary comes on, all the kids look happy, and well "groomed" as you point out
