The pillow suit is a thin lining of pillow that would go under normal clothes. The pillow suit is completely white and has a zipper in the back that goes from the nape of the neck to the lower back. There are thin areas around the joints for enhanced mobility and suit doesn't cover the hands, feet, or head. It would be possible to wear the suit by itself, but it is made to go under other clothing.
The pillow suit would really help Oskar release some of his anger and grief in a less destructive manner. Oskar's underlying anger issue is mainly discussed in page 146 of the book, where he imagines smashing Jimmy Schneider's head during the play. Instead of thinking about hurting other people and being mad in general, Oskar could scream into the pillow suit. Additionally, whenever Oskar gets upset at himself he can punch the pillow suit instead of bruising himself. Oskar talks about his body being covered with bruises that he gave himself on pages 172-173. Lastly, the suit is white so Oskar wouldn't mind wearing it.
