The invention is a siren that goes off whenever someone has heavy boots. It will ring loudly enough to be heard but not so loud as to really disturb anyone. When it goes off, it will signal to all the parents in the world, who will flock to that person and make them feel better. They will be located all over the world, in every country, and there will always be at least one person there to answer it.
I think this invention will help Oskar because the thing he needs most (in my opinion) is a parent who can really be there for him. On page 172, Oskar writes in his feelings book about his mom, and it really shows how she can’t be there for him in the way he needs her. She’s still grieving in her own way, which Oskar doesn’t understand, and that makes it harder for him to cope. Throughout the book he also is confused about why his mother is laughing, why she’s with Ron, etc. Because it is hard for him to understand the way she’s grieving, she can’t be there for him as a mother, and only really as a close friend. Having this siren would mean that whenever Oskar needed someone to be a parent to him, he would have access to someone who could comfort him.
