It is boldly true that America is not completely free. In America there are many repressions we face as a collective each day. American life may not be free but there are plenty of good reasons why it can't be. I think that America today may be a little out of control because there are too many laws.
In modern America I think that the main factor contributing to the lack of freedom are the amount of laws currently enforced. Don't get me wrong laws are good things that helps the human race from killing each other. This however brings the next example to mind. Why do you think people revolt? People revolt because there are too many laws. When the government adds a large amount of guidelines the people are going to revolt because they feel pressured. Can you call a person free when they feel pressured everyday to obey every law, even the ones you don't know? Of course you can't! One example in history that proves that people who are too bound up will revolt is Shay's Rebellion. Shay's Rebellion is a story of poor farmers dragged down by the many laws that didn't even pertain to them. Also the farmers didn't have a say in the laws that oppressed them.
In conclusion, America, although being the most free country is not truly free. There are many examples through out history that tell the story of oppressive laws. Even though I am proud to be living in this country, I think we have a long way to go before we can ever put the label of free on our slogan.
