Growing up in right outside of Chicago has always been, different. I grew up knowing some of my friends in Elementary school had siblings in gangs and were involved in shootings. Gun issues have always been a problem in the United States and I lived a block away from a house that had to arrest and seize weapons held inside by a few young men. I live 5 block away from Austin and it has always been scary knowing how dangerous Austin was and still is. Just this week a kid was killed, His name was Martel Anderson. He was only 16 years old and an Athlete at Orr Academy.
This year alone has had 71 homicides by guns and 322 people have been shot. A person in Chicago get's murdered on an average of 12 hours. Crazy right? Also, in Baltimore shootings went up 43% in the last year. Guns are playing a huge part in these statistics and issues in these two cities. We need to change something before things get even more out of hand.
